5th Group is the only one I've ever served with. Feels like home though, Dad was a team leader in the 1970s, plus it was the first unit I went to combat with.

Still no one from Third Group. I see them on the Board from time to time. Maybe they're shy?

I did time with 3rd and 5th. I would normally claim 3rd but based upon recent news reports, I will probably wait a couple of months before making that declaration.

3rd Herd and Proud
I guess I'll step up to the plate. Signed in I think July of 91. My orders stated D co, 2BN. Took my over an hour to find out that meant I was in 3rd BN, but since it wasn't stood up yet orders said 2nd. Went into to see the SGM, he asked me a few questions about my past. Stated that the marops team could use a guy that grew up around the waters of Maine. He gave me a key to the team room and wished me luck. I opened the door to 4 walls and an empty room. Yep I was the new Team leader, TS and all as the first memeber ever of 381! When I was in the "Q", I filled out my dream sheet. Being from Maine one would think that 10th out of Mass would be my first choice, but I had enough of the cold. I came to the course from 101st and made some friend over in 5th. My first year in the 187th, I did two trips to NTC so that took the desert fight out of me. So I put down 3rd, 3rd anywhere but 5th down of my wish list. Funny as I write this from Afghanistan

5th Group(SOG RT was still the 5th). In the 7th and 10th all we did were FTX's and details.

For me it was the 7th--two tours as an NCO (A-714 and A-742) and one as an officer (A-726, A-724, B-720) so I grew up there for a couple of reasons...and through our deployments to LA ('72, '81, '82), SEA ('80, '81), and Africa('80).

I spent my first three years in SF in 1/10 which might be more accurately described as the EUCOM group. I'm at Carson now and the differences between here and there are amazing. There seems to be a whole different mindset here. I love this place.
