"Such a long, long time to be gone and a short time to be there." Blue skies, and say hi to Jerry for me, Marty.

Wierd and Wonderful Marty

Marty and I were in the 18D course together in 1991- I could tell you some stories (hahaha) about the stuff we got into at the CPT training at Ft. Carson (pre-10th SFG facility construction). I had the great fortune of serving with him in A 1-10th in the 90's, with him as my Sr. Medic. He was the first guy I ever knew with an email account (Hotmail account on a 56K dialup I recall), and he was just beginning to get into mutual funds... He had this idea about doing training schedules on computers, and not typewriters or with a pencil- what was he thinking!

I'll never forget what Marty told me as he sipped his Guinness lager out of the can, and it rings true even today, "you gotta get into their culture, learn their language, and remember that if you're pulling the trigger, somebody fu*ked up." And of course, it was in perfect German.

Rest in peace my wierd and wonderful old friend; we'll see eachother again, God willing.

Alex

I, too, had the good fortune to have worked with Marty in 1-10 and benefit from knowing him. He was a true role model for a young medic.

RIP, Marty.

I found a lot of stuff on him via a google search, and not too much of it was good.

Could be he fell in with some bad crowds.
