Yep that's him, knew his son as well. He was a Tm leader in A/3/10, I was his grader.

Never heard of the Mr. Gore but that was before my time.

Since we're throwing names out there...Brian Hargis was the Sr 18C on a team with me a while back. He became a chaplain, went down range with 10th Mountain, and is now at Ft. Polk. If you run into a mountain of a man at JRTC with a cross and a long tab, he's real.

Well either way he will only be about the 4th "Progressive Democrat" I ever heard of wearing a green hat...

Doesn't take away form his service...just calls into serious question his judgement on policy...

I just looked at Steve Sherman's list of Chaplains who served in the RVN with 5th Grp. There are 19 Chaplains with the "35310 MOS code. 5310 = Chaplain; 3 prefix = SF Qualified .

Gore is not on the list.

FWIW.....

Found my military records today, and while looking through the SFTG "Tactics and Techniques Graduation Exercise" program pamphlet, dated 15 November 1968, Class 68-4, noticed that the SFTG Chaplain who delivered the Invocation and Benediction was Maj. A. N. Gore.

That's all well and fine, but calling him a "Green Beret" especially if he did not attend the SFQC or command a Special Forces A-Team is dead wrong.

Special Forces has thousands of great support folks, none of them call themselves "Green Berets".

We'll find out soon, I've sent for his military records.

Chaplain Albert Gore

We have "Chaplain" Albert Gore's service records. From reading them he's about as much a "Green Beret" as katie wilder. In fact katie wilder might have served longer in a Special Forces unit than Chaplain Gore.

He was assigned to a Special Forces unit as a chaplain, he even went to the SF officer course. But if you never serve a day on an A-Team you're not a "Green Beret".

I have the documents but their all in PDF format and I cannot separate them. Someone send me an email address and I'll send them.

Prior to what 1985 anyone/everyone serving in a Special Forces unit wore the Green Beret.

We've had this discussion before, auditing the Q-Course does not make you a "Green Beret" successfully serving on an A-Team does. As I said he's as much a "Green Beret" as katie wildier. And like katie wildier he's a legend in his own mind.

but they didn't go to the course and they didn't double time across the stage and chicks that knew better didn't dig him (okay for this guy maybe not a good thing . . . )

So, this dude has a "V" on his DD 214?

"Most colleges permit auditing in their courses. As an auditor, you enroll in, pay tuition and fees for, and attend classes but do not complete assignments or take examinations. You receive no credit for the class, but the class will be placed on your transcript with the symbol "V" (visitor) to indicate your special registration status. Although you do not receive credit, the credit value for the class counts in determining the credit total for the student services fee."
From the University of Minnesota site ( cuz that's what came up, that's why)

Chaplain Albert Gore Paper Green Beret

I'm just a tad bit sick of individuals riding the coat tails of real "Green Berets" that have never been in harm's way or put it all on the line. I get downright angry when these "Paper Green Berets" attempt use their Paper Tiger status for political gain.

Again, for those reading this thread, Chaplain Albert Gore is a "Paper Green Beret" just like katie wildier.

And yes we have many "Paper Green Berets".

He was doing more in that interview than riding the paper tail of his Cert. He was talking as a BTDT guy and all he did was go to a course and serve as a Chaplain. I knew Group Doc's, MI guys etc etc etc that went to the Q and never served on an A Team and knew their place and loved supporting the teams. I will never have a problem with them but this Article Burns my Ass.
