Cult Movies

Two great "Cult Movies" IMO are American Pyscho & Memento
I'm not sure if this one counts, but I saw Scent of a Woman this weekend and thought it was fantastic!

Thank you,
J

Yeah the Carpenter remake was one of my all time favorite "creature features." The latest one does a good job of paying homage to John Carpenter's version. I thought it was a good intro...when the DVD comes out I'm going to watch them back to back.

As for one of the scariest from my childhood...that one (although I'm slightly ashamed to admit it) goes to the original Phantasm....most notably, the last minute.

Other horror greats from that time frame would have to include The Omen and the Exorcist.

Not going to be a "cult movie" per se...but took the two younger kids to see the Muppet Movie last night. I laughed my butt off. If you grew up during their heyday it was like being a kid again. The kids weren't nearly as amused as I was. I highly recommend it for those that grew up watching the TV show.

We saw "The Muppets" as well. I especially liked the part when Walter discovered his talent.

I also saw The Muppet Movie with my kids over the Thanksgiving weekend. They loved the movie as much as my wife and I - they have seen the older mupper movies and we own the first season of The Muppet Show on DVD, so they had some bavckground familiarity. Lots of nostalgic moments for those who grew up in the Muppet era.

It was nice seeing a kid's movie with a good message and without a lot of adult undertones (like in many of the Dreamworks movies).

I enjoyed all the quick one-liners that were delivered so dead pan. When Kermit says nothing can be done...and Amy Adams responds with, "Man, this is going to be a short movie."

I'll have to see it (probably by myself), since I still chuckle at things from the FIRST Muppet movie... such as when Kermit says to Fozzie, as they are driving down a road, "Bear right" and Fozzie says, "Frog left"!

The Muppets are great.

For those who remember the original Queen video, this is a kick:

Agree and agree... Some very poignant moments. Very, very powerful... And -- in total -- those moments probably added up to no more than 5 of those 139 minutes.

It's as though T.Malick HATES the audience. Either that or he's completely OBLIVIOUS to the excruciating tedium that inhabits this film. Some POWERFUL moments, good performances (best work of B.Pitt's career), agree that it's VISUALLY STUNNING, but it's not a good film.

Not at all worthy of the Oscar hype it's getting, imho...
