Mossberg 500 Firing Pin Spring

Good afternoon all,

I just want to let you guys know that a Maintenance Advisory Message of sorts was released about the M500 firing pin springs. I don't know if you guy's use them on a regular basis, but its good info if you have a privately owned one. A case occurred when the muzzle of a 500 struck the ground, it fired. Luckily the Marine wasn't hurt, but it incited an investigation which came to the determination that the weaker 8-Coil firing pin spring needs to be replaced with the stiffer 5-Coil spring. We were notified of this as I attended a course out in Crane, IN last week. Have a good one!

That I'm not sure of, but they're relatively the same thing. I can't think of any differences in the bolt assemblies. Field strip yours and count the coils located on the bottom of the bolt assy. Try to move the firing pin with either a 1/16, 3/32 or similar punch to check for good resistance. Last but not least, don't drop your shotguns on the muzzle
