Needing someone in the know to chime in and direct me to a reputable dog protection company (breeder/trainer), K9, not for LE but for home, wife, kids, etc.

Google search only produces 100,000+ hits, really? I need someone to vector me in. West Coast, East Coast, Mid West, South, matter not.

A neighbor is asking because of my association with a good number of LEOs, QP, and others who do this sort of thing.

Booger, Tommy, Jordie and Luke... We were fostering Booger. He was adopted shortly after this picture was taken. His real name is Kyle but he is one year old and a complete booger. Jordie was adopted from a rescue and is 12, kind of an old guy. Luke is 4, we adopted from a rescue. Tommy who is 4, we bought as a pup. They are terrors. Tom and Luke have killed 4 mice, a rat and 3 possoms in the last 2 years...

WD, you might check out Michael Ellis in Fairfield, CA. Ed Frawley at Leerburg has been making his new training videos with Michael.

Here's a link to some of his free videos to give you an idea on how he works: http://michaelellisschool.com/videos.htm

(I have not personally taken any courses from him.)

Good luck.

Pat

Enjoyed the video links, Michael Ellis appears to be knowledgable.

What my neighbor is looking for is a K9 trained family protection dog, ready to go.

Are there good leads in your area?

Oops, misread it. You should be able to get some leads on the Leerburg forum. The only breeders I'm close with are Akita breeders.

ETA: Your neighbor could contact Michael about this. I'm sure he'd know some.

Two pounds of terror. Someone once asked me. Aren't you worried a Bird of Prey will snatch her up. I said, if that happened I would follow the bird and wait for it to land. Even if it landed in a crowded playground. I would still open fire.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A Montana resident says an energy company has identified the cause of a brief power outage as "deer with wings."

Lee Bridges says she was outside with her dogs around the time the power went out when a NorthWestern Energy truck pulled up, giving her a chance to ask the driver what caused the problem.

She says he pointed up and said, "Apparently, we've got deer with wings."

Bridges looked up and saw a dead fawn on a power line.

It's unlikely the animal had an accident while trying to make like distant-cousin Rudolph. Bridges suspects that an eagle dropped its prey and couldn't retrieve it.

The lineman who removed the carcass from the power line said he'd never seen anything like it.

That is usually a really tough thing to find. I was never comfortable with the "ready to go" dogs that I have seen before. The worst one that I saw was a Rottie from a german breeder puchased for about $30,000.00+ with a Schutz III title. The first time the new owner went to breed him, he gutted and killed the bitch during the breeding. That was a few weeks after he went crazy during a Schutz match and would not release from the agitator. It took three agitators about 15 minutes to wear the dog out before the new owner could control him.

Have your neighbor give Bob Gailey a call. IIRC Bob was the agitator that the above mentioned dog would not release from. I haven't seen Bob in years but he would be the one in Central Florida to know if anything there was available and I hope that he is still reputable.

Here is the link: http://www.bobgailey.net/

Miniature longhair Dachshunds with our cat, a Bengal. The dogs are the sweetest, best animals I've ever owned. Excellent alarm dogs, too.
