The Southern California coast is a birthing ground and nursery for great whites. Lot's of em out there, close to the beach. The biggest one I have seen was in 1979. I was in a 23" boat, 1/2 mile off the Newport Beach Jetty(The Wedge area for you body surfers). I saw the fin, pulled up along side of the fish. Its nose was at the bow, its tail just past the stern. Big Fish. There are other sharks in the area, blues, mako and threshers....
