+1 There are decades-old documents still being witheld on a variety of things (up to & including assassinations) that can only be
classified because they would be embarassing to someone still alive OR because it would further (if that's possible) undermine the trust of the American people. In other words, "they (The People) can't know how nefarious & scheming we really are in holding ourselves above the law." The notion, in many cases, of
"but... national security!" causes me to cough - as in, ahem-bullshit.
