US Military to use Kony as tool?

So I had a question that expands on the thread started by MR2 which stated that 100 advisers entered four African nations in order to help fight the LRA in October. This was well before the Kony 2012 video that sparked such a national buzz. After reading a bit more I came across this article by Aljazeere that made this statement

" [Kony2012] is an excuse that the US government has gladly adopted in order to help justify the expansion of their military presence in central Africa. Invisible Children are "useful idiots", being used by those in the US government who seek to militarise Africa, to send more and more weapons and military aid, and to bolster the power of states who are US allies. The hunt for Joseph Kony is the perfect excuse for this strategy."

So what is your take on this? Do you believe that this might escalate into a larger intervention even though the LRA is really a smaller sized force (unofficial estimate: 250-400)? Is the LRA just a jumping point on the continent? On a related note how might the advisers work around the fact that a majority of the force consists of children who if history teaches us were abducted and are introduced to drugs early.
