Damn. That's beyond criminal. All that meat wasted.

I visited my brother up there when he was stationed at Richardson and we would watch the daily moose lottery on the news. Rail-killed moose would be hoisted off the train tracks and lowered into a pickup truck that would haul it back to one of the many low-income communities to be divvied up among households. My brother explained that moose regularly hang out on the railroad tracks because the snow is shallow, making it easier to find plants to nibble on. Of course, those rail lines are active which means there's usually more than one moose that winds up in the back of someone's pickup each day, providing a lot of hungry folks with free range meet during the winter months.
