I've never been called, but I figure when the time comes I'll just ask the people doing the interviews, "Who's defending the guilty sumbich?..." and that oughta just about take care of my JD responsibilities.

Here's an interesting tidbit of info on out spitting friend...

A good friend of mine who was assigned as the rigger at the MFF committee and at SFD-K back in the mid-late 80's (TR - you know who it is - he lives in Vass) hates Hanoi Jane just about worse than anyone I know. Once he heard the story about Mike Smith's spitting on her he couldn't hide his joy. He did what no one else I know would do - he called the Kansas City police dept and asked to talk to the investigating officer. They passed him to the detective, and the detective told my buddy that when they brought Mike in for questioning after the arrest that nearly every officer in the building came up and shook his hand.

Then my buddy asked for Mike's home phone number and by God they gave it to him. He called Mike and Mike wasn't home, but he did talk to his wife. His wife was still pretty pissed off at Mike about the whole thing, until my buddy told her some of the things that Hanoi Jane's actions during the VN war had resulted in - additional atrocitites directed at POWs, etc. He told Mike's wife that instead of being mad at him that she oughta give the man a hug for all of us.

Shortly thereafter Mike called my buddy and they talked for an hour. He has a court date in June for his misdemeanor arrest for disorderly conduct and my buddy wants to start a fund to pay for Mike's lawyers fees and any fines he may get.

I'll post Mike's phone number and mailing address in the GB Club since I don't want it falling into the wrong hands.
