It seems the problem with Shariah-Compliant Finance is the lack of transparency surrounding zakat payments to Islamic charities. Most if not all Shariah-Compliant firms facilitate zakat payments for their clients.
SCF seems to be a problematic activity because Shariah advisors have at their discression the ability to move proceeds of their financial investments into various charities and to migrate money to organizations that are involved in terrorism, IMO, the HLF is a worthy example in which over 12 million went to Hamas.
"...On November 24, 2008, after seven days of deliberation and six weeks of testimony, a jury convicted HLF and five of its leaders on charges of providing material support to Hamas..."
"...HLF and these five defendants provided approximately $12.4 million in support to Hamas and its goal of creating an Islamic Palestinian state by eliminating the State of Israel through violent jihad..."
