Career and 18x help

I plan to graduate high school this year, enlist in the National Guard in January, complete my training and then go to school full-time until I am age eligible for an 18x contract. I would like to transfer from the Guard to Active Duty through 18x. My question to you BTDT's is what is the best major to pick and what MOS should I pursue in the Guard, what would give more skills to be the best asset to the team? I appreciate any advice and wisdom any of you might have for me and thank you for letting me post here.

Follow the instructions sent to you on registration, e.g. Intro Thread and profile. Attention to detail will go a long way.

Sorry about that.

Now that you completed your intro,,

Spend some time with the search function. There are only two questions, that I know of that are not to be found here. Neither of which you need.

Also, Search for and read "A Message to Garcia"

Do yourself a favor and do not enlist until we see who wins the next presidential election.

Personally there's no way I'd take orders from a socialist.

That's the quandary that I am in on submitting my retirement now......Go with what we know, or wait long enough to take a shot on who's next?

1)stick around, the extra 6 will be good for your retirement check.

2)go green to blue,, as a seal you might get dropped, but you can look forward to a TV show

3)join the contractor line,, but I think this is going to be the hardest hit area.

6 Months or 6yrs....... I can assure you that the months won't kill me, but I'll die if I do another 6yrs!!! There aren't enough desk's between me and then, nor do I want them. The game has changed on me and I don't want to play anymore!!!

:D

1. We are not crazy, the shrinks make sure of that.
2. The only gentlemen are the ones made and kept so by an Act of Congress, the rest of us are manly men.
3. I'll let QP Richard let you know the difference between intelligence and wisdom, it involves tomatoes...

I wont comment on the MOS, its been covered plenty of times. As for the major - choose a major that you find interesting and that will prove worthwhile if you were never to go into the military.

Your major in school should prepare you for success in life and will serve as a good back up should you pursue something else over time. You cant major in Army.

Screw college. Go to trade school and learn a job that pays almost immediately and cannot be outsourced.
