Did a search and didn't find anything. Pretty BAMF.

Bill's the man!! I am currently reading a draft of his book manuscript to write a review for him. You guys are going to love the book. A lot of history I did not know.

He's local guy turned hero in the quad cities. Retired there after a career in the secret service after he left group. Has some funny as all-hell stories.

He's a member of the list. I'll point him over here when next I see him. He's the real deal. Jim

Great book! Just finished it. Definitely deserving of MOH.

I have just noticed this thread and I have never posted beyond my introduction on these forums. However, this is a thread that gives me cause to break my silence. I have spent most of my life in Rock Island. I am a firefighter and paramedic for Rock Island Fire Department currently.

I have had the honor of meeting Captain Albrecht and voted for him to take Mike Jacobs seat as Senator. I can tell you that no words can describe how strong and admirable this mans presence is. A true leader and quiet professional. My father who has known him far longer than I, informed me of his heroism and service in Vietnam after meeting him. I was only more astounded by the fact that until KWQC had covered his story that almost no one had heard of him other than a name on a political sign in the lawns of our community.

Even now, no matter how life deals its cards out I remember this story of Firebase Kate. It humbles me immensely, gives clarity to the chaos and evokes a fierce and determined sense of leadership. Let us hope to never be tested in such a way, but God grant us the ability to act as he did.

Xingu - well said.

Bill is out currently on his book tour. Last week he was at the Citadel and I am not sure where he is this week. But, if you happen to see him around go up and say hello; he is a hell of a guy and one funny mo-fo. He was probably my best friend in the quad-cities after we sniffed each other out at a restaurant one evening.

There is a movement afoot to upgrade his SS to a MOH. I recently wrote and endorsement for this to occur. BTW, the movement is NOT initiated by him, it is by friends in the service and the quad-cities. Bill is way too modest to do any of this stuff.

The book has been turned into a screenplay which is the first step to making it into a movie. I told him I'd want to play him in the film but couldn't ugly myself up that bad!!!

If you ever get to have a beer with him do so, the funny stories of his time in the Mike Force and then in his career in the secret service will leave you laughing so hard you'll be crying. An amazing individual.

God bless em, the thing about most heroes is that you stand right next to them every day and you don't know it. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice Captain Albracht.
