My Father passed on May 15th. He was in 8th Group from 1963-1966. I found this in a binder he left behind. One may see what a man accomplished. One may see what he saved.

A P-38 was a handy critter. Tad difficult getting into one of those peanut butter cans with a K-Bar.

Yeah........ I wore one on my dog tags for about a week...... after being stabbed a few dozen times I took it off. Purchased a Swiss Army knife that I always carried when in the field.

Still got a few put away somewhere. They also worked as an improvised screwdriver and the blade was good for ripping open other kinds of containers made of plastic, cardboard, etc.

Used mine just the other day making the Pork Tacos, posted in the Gourmet Guerrilla forum, to open a can of pineapple rings. The damned crank opener failed as it does 90 percent of the time.

My P-38 will be 50 years old next January. Got it during Basic bivouac week at Ft. Polk. It snowed!

BTW, don't forget what dog tags are actually for. ;)
