Free float rail system on M4's..........
Ok guys, figured I would throw this one in here, since everyone seems to be going away from the "ghetto" grip and moving towards a more forward grip on the M4's with long barrels. Recently, I have seen several guys running free float rail systems on the long barrels in order to get some more real estate on the fore end.
The rest of the team seems to want these, but with everyone spread 3 sheets to the wind in schools right now, its hard to nail down something specific that will actually work. Any suggestions from guys may have gone this route? |
Since Knight's no longer makes their MRE you can get Troy Industries "Battle Rail - Charlie" to fit on M4s without gunsmithing or armorer acrobatics -- the base gun is not altered or modified:

Daniel Defense make the RIS II for the M4 with a standard front sight.

I'm not a QP by any means so if I'm out of line I apologize, but Samson also makes a front sight cut-out/pocket rail (STAR CXR http://www.samson-mfg.com/ar-15_html.../STAR-CXR.html) and Midwest Indsturies makes one as well (MCTAR-20XG2 http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/...ategory_ID=422).
Both require removal of the delta ring though. |

On a side note, if you replace the barell on the Mk18 short upper with a longer barell, you have more rail space then the mil spec M4s. Of course, crane may get mad at you, if you care about that. |
