Vietnam weapons sights
6 Attachment(s)
I have a friend that wanted asked me to research two optics that he acquired through an estate. He was told that these were used in Vietnam/SE Asia by Special Forces soldiers. I recognized the Single Point from pictures I've seen of the Son Tay raiders. But I haven't seen the Colt yet. Do any of you veterans have any knowledge on these sights being used in Vietnam or anything else that may be of interest that I can pass along to this guy? Thank you very much.

I'm pretty sure Hakko of Japan made the originals Colt 3x20's between 1965-1970( + or - ). Very good quality. Barska (Chinese) currently makes a copy 4x20.
I know some were use, but I did not have access to any.. |
Never saw any of them - only scopes we had were for our M-1Ds and M-21s.
Richard's $.02 :munchin |
I personally have a Colt and carried a Singlepoint on missions.

What was your impression of the single point? Good, bad, etc. Gene |
Thank you for your responses guys. If anyone else has had any experience with either of these sights being issued during the Vietnam conflict, please drop me a line.

I liked it a lot!! Of course this type of system has evolved considerably since then, but I was a "Natural" for it. The level of profinciency that we attained, with the Car-15s, using the "Quick-Kill" BB-Gun training and lots of IA Drill Range Time definitely was very helpful. Take care. Martin |
