Here is the update, reprint of the Undergrounds in insurgent, revolutionary and resistance warfares Jan 2013

These were (are) a great series of books from the 1960's.

Yeah I have one of the original books.

Well written if the insurgency was located in Europe, maybe even Latin America.

IMO, Worthless for the Middle East.

It does not address the tribal mentally of the ME types. And forget trying to penetrate an opposing islamic tribe.

Kinda like trying to sneak a 1800 Chippawa indian into a Sioux camp, ain't going to work.

That is a really good point!! I'm going to look into how we can suggest this. I know the Tribal Analysis Center (TAC) or one other has already done this for CENTCOM. Should be additional Chapters or sections for covering this topic/subject.

Trust me we learned the hard way decades ago. They are not just islamic sects they are tribes, with tribal leaders and tribal ways. If you're not part of that tribe you might as well try speaking to a stone wall.

The only way to have a successful revolution or insurgency is to have the cooperation of one of the very large tribes.

Check out what's going on in Syria, the "rebels" can't even fight together because of their tribal differences.
