Packing List Items
All:
I will be attending the April SFAS class. I am short some of the items on the packing list and figured I would put feelers out here before making an investment from a vendor. I joined the National Guard solely to attend Selection, so I have not received a supply issue from my duty unit. This is why I am missing some of the items. If anyone here may have any of the items listed available for purchase/borrow, I will pay shipping or drive to pick-up, depending on location. I reside in the D.C. area, and am willing to drive to NC; in fact, I will be in Salisbury, NC during the first weekend of March (this Friday and Saturday). Here are the items I am hoping to borrow/purchase: ACU Field Jacket Clear safety glasses Laundry bag Glove liners Polypro top MOLLE Camelbak I’ll give this post a couple of days, and if no response, I’ll make an order from an online vendor. Thanks! |
Not sure you're going to be very successful with the borrowing; however, the local (FBNC) MILSURP stores have a wide selection of the required items for reasonable prices. (They're actually overflowing with ACU crap.)

I’ll plan for that as a contingency for the week after next and, until then, let this post simmer… Thanks again. |

Field Jacket?
Snivel gear was unauthorized when I went to Phase I. Now, they get Field Jackets? ;) |

We got to wear gortex.... It was froze when i was pulling it out of my ruck.. Kinda nippy that day

You'll be issued a gortex top when you report at Bragg's CIF, I just got back from 05-12. Additionally you shouldn't need polypropylene, it's going to be pretty warm out there. If you have the "waffle" snivelling gear you can pack that instead. You'll definitely need the gloves and eye protection during land navigation and team week ... Bones Fork Creek and if you're REALLY lucky Millstone... you'll hopefully see what I mean.
If you don't have a camelbak by the time you're there you'll be relegated to canteens and canteen straws (the straws on your own dime). Definitely a useful piece of kit but not the end all, you wont really use a camelbak during team week. |
Thanks.
My concern was just ensuring that I had all the items as required, per the packing list. I think I am mostly set now. Thanks for the response. |

If you come up short on anything let me know. I'm not far from you.

Packing list
Quick questions. The packing list states bring Poncho Liner "in carry on luggage". My question is, is that for candidates who are traveling from point A to B or is that for everyone? Do we only have a duffel bag when we leave for SFAS from Bragg?
:munchin Thanks! |
