Here's my 11-year-old son Ben with a channel cat he just caught here in Michigan on the St. Clair River. First cat of the trip, it's been walleye, 3 types of bass, perch, etc. otherwise.

Great picture. I love the smile! That says it all about fishing with your kids.

Nice cat! Now all you need is some hush puppies!

Nice catch.

Was wondering what you used for bait up there in the colder water.

Best luck was with nightcrawlers, but we also had some luck with live gobys. Got nothing at all with various types of lures.

Nice catch for your son, that cat's a big one,any idea what it weighted?.........:D

Big Teddy :munchin

Roguish Lawyer 08-14-2011 13:36

We did not weigh it, but it was a heavy one. I'd say 20-25 lbs, but that's just a guess.

Roguish Lawyer 08-14-2011 14:56

I fried it (and also perch and bass we caught) in a mixture of crushed white corn tortilla chips and chicken shake n bake. Dredged in flour, then egg and tabasco mixture, then the outer crust. It was tasty!

Sounds delicious.

Little man did good. Bet he's a fisherman for life now.

Congrats.
