I want to say thank you for the help from 92 to 95 with the support from your dive locker to ours (3rd Recon Bn, Det Force, 4th Mar Recon, 9th Mar Recon and 3rd Div Recon). Plus some wet jump support too.

Any SOC-K members from the 86-88 time frame?

Spartan 02-01-2004 14:14

Graduated the Q Course as an 18C and worked in the S-4 shop in 2nd Bn, 1st SFG during 88-89 time frame.

Bulged Discs. :(

Welcome Spartan!

Hope disks are better or atleast getting better.

Spartan 02-02-2004 15:37

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome - mainly just have to deal with limitations - modify activity levels, etc... I should go back on a rehab process.

I should have reupped in SF and stayed to contribute to the mission, but I was in the selfish "I joined to be a shooter not work in an S-Shop" mode at the time.

Does anyone remember doing a demo class for jarheads?
I got a great one in 85.
The fun stuff, steel cutting.
That D-9 will never be the same, transmission cover 10 meters beyond the wreck with it's body cut in half.
Also, first that I ever saw a radio transmitted demo.
In 1985 pure James Bond. Or in this case Science Fiction.
Great class, thanks.

Radar Rider 03-18-2004 04:50

I was in the SOT-B, MID, 2nd Bn (1994 - 1996). I'm trying to get back there, because I want to retire in Tacoma. :)

P36 04-11-2004 23:53

Just finished a visit to Torii. A lot has changed in 20 years, but it's still a great little place. There are now cabins for rent down on the beach.

magician 04-18-2004 20:58

longrange 1947,

I was looking at your picture and it appears you are in Hawthorne, Nevada. I can tell by the disruption of the sand in front of your feet (Combat Tracker) that you are working with a group of about 7 to 8 men. It appears that one is from WV and that the rest are seasoned sniper instructors. I can also tell by the angle of the camera shot that this picture was taken by a very good looking man with a big nose. Has anyone ever told you "You look like Sam Elliot"?

Take Care

Hmmmm, from my deduction of your typing techniques, you have a "Roman Nose" profile. :D

Glad to see you here.

Besure yourself at the link provided above. It lets everyone know your background and you get to say a bit about yourself. With your glib wit it should be easy. :p

Sam Elliot, Janice still thinks that is a crack up!

ODA 142 from '95-99.
EDW, missed ya but a couple names that I am sure are familiar during your stint on 142 are, Top Morgan, Angelo A., Chief K., maybe Doc Jim F. , it has been a while so you may not have been team mates.

I was there when it was fun.

Maybe because I was also young at the time. 69 through 72. About the time longrange1947. I was in B co, first at Sukikran and then moved to Bolo point. Loved every minute of it Blitz

For those who don't know it, the 46th SF Company became the 46th SF Battalion and then USASFT (US Army Special Forces-Thailand) but was officially carried on the 'books' as 3-1st SFGA until we closed in '74.
