Here's hoping it does. I have to admit that the Dems have done a pretty good job of making themselves look foolish. Just like Howard Dean's comments the other day: http://apnews.myway.com/article/20060213/D8FOCGBO2.html Based on that, it's pretty clear that Dean doesn't understand how the government's classification system works. If they want to win in 2008, they need to take another approach because trying to directly attack and discredit their opponents isn't working too well for them.
As a resident of Ohio, I'd be thrilled if Hackett were still running only because he doesn''t have a snowball's chance in hell of winning. I think his death sentence, politically, was when he called the 60% of Ohioans who voted to oppose same-sex marriage "un-American," and then compared them to Usama bin Laden. That's exactly what I want a Senatorial candidate to be doing, so long as he's a dem ;)

The Dems threw Hackett under the bus because he isn't far enough out there. Being a Marine officer, pro-gun, and a bit of a loose cannon doesn't sit well with the party power brokers or the base. Sherrod Brown is more in line with modern Democratic doctrine, a flaky red in the Dennis Kucinich tradition.
Hackett will be on Hardball with Chris Matthews on Monday, 20 Feb. It will be interesting to see if he outs Reid and Schumer.
