This book looks at our efforts in counterterrorism, at a policy level NOT a tactical level, starting in the aftermath of WWII and continuing to the present. It's a good, relatively thorough overview, well written and very well documented. I thought I detected a bit of a bias on the author's part in discussing the efforts and policies of Democratic administrations, but is a subtle one.

For many here, this book is covering well travelled ground, but for someone interested in gaining an understanding of the history and evolution of our policy in dealing with terrorism this is as good an overview as I've encountered. Even for someone relatively well read on the subject there may be some new info (I know I was surprised to learn about the capture of Guzman [Sendero Luminosa] and a number of other details.
