I was wondering if prior language experience/background have any influence on which group I would get assigned to after completing SFAS?
In other words, I am a fluent speaker in Chinese(Manderin), and was wondering if that would have any influence on me going to 1st Group over the other groups? Although, I do have one thing working against me. While I can speak the dickens out of it, I can't read or write to save my life (Was born in Taiwan, and came to the U.S. when I was 2 1/2).
I'm currently a cadet in the Army ROTC program and will be commisioning this summer. I have MI and Signal Corp as my top 2 branch choices. That being said, it looks like I have a good 2 years before I can even put in a packet for SFAS.
Also, got a question about language proficiency...After doing some research, I've gathered that in order to be considered native proficient, I need to score a 3/3 on the DLPT. That test includes both listening and reading/writing. What level of proficiency is needed in order to successfully complete the language school requirements in the pipeline?
Thanks, Joe
