Christmas 1951, a Mountain top in Korea!

Snowing and cold with those icy winds blowing from Siberia. I think I have on most every piece of clothing they issued me and I'm still cold. The wind is what really makes it cold. (Wind chill factor.)

The ChiComs last night, gave us a Christmas Eve serenade, with mortars and artillery. They blew their bugles after this and taunted us over their loud speakers, making us think they were going to attack. No attack. The WW II search light's (ours) were bounced off the overcast sky keeping no mans land all lit up.

We hear that we will be getting a hot meal today on Christmas Day! We're looking forward to that, as we're all tired of C-Rats, mostly eaten cold.

Around Noon, B Co relieved us at our positions, and we moved down the 'hill to the rear, were the field kitchen was set up. Wow! What a meal, our mess kits were over flowing with Turkey and all the traditional holiday foods! Hot coffee, Apple pie! What a great meal! One I will always remember as well as being warm from the belly out for awhile.

Trip Wire, stories like this are priceless, thank you for sharing them. My dad was fighting in Korea during the same time...I wish he'd open up more about some things.
