It is official! My son has finished his training, and recieved his new orders! He passed through all the phases, and recieved his Green Beret, SF tab and his Yarborough knife this past week. I am SO proud of him! I just wish I had been able to be there. There was not a graduation ceremony for some reason...It is too bad, for the family (his grandpas' were really looking forward to it, as I was). But the best news, (got the call this morning for my birthday) he is heading home Monday, driving with all his belongings. I can't wait to see him!!!

Big time congrats!
Now that the schooling is over the real work begins for him.
Sometimes its easier to earn it than it is to wear it.
Congrats to the whole clan, he's a man to be proud of.

Congrats!
I second what Pete said, "Now the work (and schooling) begins".
That's great news. Please pass along my congrats to your son. What group assignment did he get? I imagine this will be a very special Christmas at your house.

Congrats! You should be very proud...he didn't accomplish that on his own...the lessons you shared with him growing up helped him achieve it.
Thank you for you contribution to his success.

I would like to thank all of you Q. P.'s and friends, for your congratulatory notes and encouragement. I know his road is really just beginning. Thank you for all the support, and help with my questions. He just drove in, safely. Fayetteville to the OC in 54 hrs. :D Now I get to see him put on that handsome Green Beret!:o

(There was no ceremony when I graduated either.....)

We were formed up in our Greens, marched down to Bronze Bruce, had our picture taken (IIRC all 34 of us), handed our orders and told to hit the road.
By that night I had a bunk in the 5th Group Barracks. Sometime after dark four scruffy looking guys in dirty uniforms and rucksacks came in, dropped their rucks and introduced themselves. The real training was about to begin.

I could be wrong, but I think there's a graduation ceremony coming up in a few months.
Guys "graduate" and receive their tab at the end of each SERE class, after every DLPT or in some cases even Robin Sage. (if they had SERE after Phase 2 and tested out of a language.)
Unless things have changed recently (and they might have), the graduation ceremony is only held every three months, and everyone that finished in that quarter goes to that ceremony.

We did almost the same thing, except that 5th was forward deployed!! We had to hang aroung Bragg and endure the daily trips to the Slave Market untill our leave orders came through. Then it was home for 30 days and on the Big Bird to RVN!!!:D
