Not sure if this was the right place to post this.

Anyway I was driving today & I heard a new song on the radio.

It was called the 8th of November by Big & Rich. They are 2 country artists for those not familier with them. They have written a song about a battle fought by the 173rd Abn in Vietnam. It struck a chord in me, so I went and bought it this afternoon. I have listened to it again, frankly it gets to me.

Its a pleasure to hear a patrotic song about veterans in general. Even if you are not a country music fan its worth listening to.

Well spotted! Just listened to it and it does get to you especially Kristoferson's opening. BTW, he was a chopper pilot for 5 years in the Army and did a tour in Germany. Any idea if he did a Vietnam tour? I've searched the internet, but cannot find anything.

While I disagree tremundously with Kristoferson's politics (afraid he is a lefty), I do respect his military background. He was a chopper pilot, no combat tours though. He was Ranger qualified, one night on the Carson show, Johnny asked him what the "hardest part of his life was?"

Kris smilied and said, "Darby phase."

Johnny asked "What do you mean?"

KK replyed,"those that been there know."

As a side note I understand Big & Rich are sponsering a documentary on the 173rd Abn, Operation Hump and the Medal of Honor that was won that day.

If you can listen to that song and not have a tear come your eye....you are a harder man than I. Its makes me think about the friends I have lost over the years. Buts a damm good song and it makes you think of the paratroopers that went before us, their sacrafices and our friends who in the fight today.
