A little early but I wanted to say a special thanks to those that defend our freedom.

Sorry, effusive writing is not my forte, and Thank You seems inadequate. Just know that this is sincere.

Thank You.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you, the same to you and everyone else. I always remember the men and women not able to be with their families protecting us. I hope things are as good for them as we can make it.

Thanksgiving in garrison was very nice. The boss always took care of us when we weren't deployed and I will add to the utmost of their ability when we were deployed. The LTC and CSM visited all of the Teams downrange when they could and gave us the latest news and good cheer in one form or another. ;)

I miss those good things...

Happy Thanksgiving Folks. Take a break if you can, you deserve it. :)

Wish everyone well and a safe day also !!

Every year at this time I have, for 30+ years, remembered Thanksgiving Day 1969 at Camp Mackall as the most memorable, this is even ahead of the Kennedy assasination and the Ruby debacle time frame!!! Having hot chow, out of mermite cans under the blue skies out there, was WONDERFUL !!!

Hope you all, especially those forward deployed, have a very safe and enjoyable holiday !!

Take care.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving day with family and friends tomorrow. Spend that time to not only think of your family and give thanks for them but to the troops that are away from home. Especially those that are not only away from home but in dangers way. In this goup I include the LEAs out there that are dong more than thier fair share.

To all of them and to all of you, I give my, and my family's, thanks for being there and here. Good luck and "stay safe out there".

Wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving from those of us who don't get to eat Turkey.:)

On a related note, did anyone see the story today about the winner of the turkey eating contest? The girl who won (Sonya Thomas) only wieghs 47.5 kg, and the turkey was a 4.5 kg turkey. That's 10% of her bodyweight!
That's gotta leave a mark.

Happy Thanksgiving, all...and for you who do not eat turkey, have a nice day...

On a related note, did anyone see the story today about the winner of the turkey eating contest? The girl who won only wieghs 47.5 kg, and the turkey was a 4.5 kg turkey....That's gotta leave a mark.i am reminded of a contractor who once asked me "what's that in real numbers...?" so a girl who weights 104 1/2 pounds eats a turkey that weighs 9.9 pounds...what did she have for dessert...?

Twas the night of Thanksgiving But I just couldn't sleep,

I tried counting backwards ~ I tried counting sheep ...

The leftovers beckoned ~ The dark meat and white,

But I fought the temptation ~ With all of my might ...

Tossing and turning with anticipation

The thought of a snack became infatuation

So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door

And gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore

Gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes

Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes

I felt myself swelling so plump and so round

'Til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground!

I crashed through the ceiling, Floating into the sky

With a mouthful of pudding, And a handful of pie

But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees

Happy eating to all! Pass the cranberries, Please!

May your stuffing be tasty, May your turkey be plump

May your potatoes 'n Gravy, Have nary a lump

May your yams be delicious, May your pies take the prize

May your thanksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs!

May your Thanksgiving Be Blessed!

My friend has just very recently moved to the US. He posted this in his blog and I thought it was pretty cool.

---
So anyway, back to lonliness, i was trying to kill time by getting out there and experiencing my new neighborhood, so i was out walking and i went around the block a few times.
This woman who happened to be a rather butch lesbian woman (i'm just speculating, mind you) asked if i'd eaten and i just said yes and kept walking. This was not unusual as random people on the street talk to you here, some of them are a little odd, some of them a lot. Most of them are just after spare change.
Anyhooo, on about my 3rd time past (i'm not sure i really knew i was walking around in circles) this woman said "How many more times am i gonna see ya'll walk past without coming in and getting some food?". She then proceeded to grab me by the arm and walk me in to the bar she was standing outside. I said, "i might come back, i don't have my wallet", then she said "thats not neccessary, the food is free today!" And with that my Thanksgiving took shape as i enjoyed a turkey dinner on the house and the company of strangers as i ate it.
I even went back to my room to get my wallet and went back to have a beer with them. In one of the scariest streets i've ever been on, i found a great bar with fantastic hospitality and people who were ready to bring the spirit of thanksgiving to myself, and to people from all walks of life walking down that street tonight.
