NDD might like this book

I saw it tonight at Borders, but they were about to close and didn't have much chance to leaf through it.

One Woman's Army by General Janis Karpinski (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1401352472/qid%3D1132040639/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/104-2277896-3203161)

I read this a couple weeks ago. ( I'm also reading Ghost Wars so please don't judge all my reading selections on the basis of the Karpinski book alone;) ).

I picked it up at the library and it is a very quick read. However, for those of us who are civilians with no one who is AD nearby to help 'translate' some of the assertions that she makes in the book, it is difficult to determine where there is whining and where there are legitimate points made that contributed to the situation.

Nevertheless, I was still left wondering who is ultimately responsible for the welfare of detainees - MPs or MI - when they are going thru the information gathering process.

If you can stand it, she was on CSPAN2 last weekend. The show is archived for internet streaming. I have not watched it.

Shouldn't the author's title be Colonel not General? :D

I remember hearing she was reduced in rank after the "incident".

I can see it as OK as long as she came out with the book prior to her rank reduction, but penning a book posing as a general officer is a big no-no.
