While Fayetteville casts it's eye on getting most of the people look for other areas to see a bigger increase.

Eastern Hoke and sounthern Harnett counties continue a frantic building pace. That area also has lower taxes.

Now that they are working on 295/HWY 13 I look to see more building in the Eastover area and out to the Sampson county line. Eastover may try and keep it's rural nature but its only fighting a holding action.

I hate to say it but I believe that the Cumberland County area has priced their butts out of this build up. When taxes are cheaper in the Snow Bird area of Moore County then here in Cumberland then why would anyone build a house here?

I am looking at moving in a few years (yes this build up means I will now spend more money then than now, but wife doesn't seem to understand that) and I am looking to the Cameron to Carthage area or more towards Wilmington. OUT of Cumberland though.

The area I am in now was farmland 20 years ago when I bought. It is now a giant suburb of Fayetteville, and waiting for a big bang annexation. That would effectively double my taxes. At my age I would never see anything from an annexation, only taxes.

I chose not to live in Cumberland County this time because of the crime, taxes, and crummy schools.

Moore is very nice, Richmond not bad, Harnett still rural, not sure that I would want to be in Hoke or Lumber though.

It was no surprise that those behind the recent annexations were turned out of office this time around.

West Hoke is good. Have to have 10 acres minimum to put up a house (Anti Trailer Park Law) only problem is if you have kids they have to go to private school. Hoke public schools are a death sentence for your kids.
