Assault on Dak Pek: A Special Forces A-Team in Combat, 1970, by SFC Leigh Wade, ret.

This is an autobiographical work focused on the author's time at the Dak Pek Special Forces camp in 1970. He apparently has written at least two other non-fiction books.

If you are interested in Viet Nam, I recommend the book. It is well written and contains some very funny stories. It is typical of the Viet Nam non-fiction paperback, if you know what I mean -- good stories, well written and easy to read, but pretty similar to the many others out there. The author spends some time at the end offering some rucksack wisdom on a number of topics including how to deal with alcoholism and the difficulty of returning to civilian life after extended combat. The book paints a grim picture of morale towards the end of the war ("The war's over and we lost.").

I would be interested in anyone else's thoughts on the book or the subject matter.
