View Full Version : "AUSPICIOUS DAY"
WARNUNG: The following rant is rated R and may contain descriptive, vile, vulgar language.
Yesterday Edward Kennedy called it an “Auspicious Day” -- a fucking AUSPICIOUS day!!! The fucking Democrats and other anti-war/American assholes have been impatiently waiting for this fucking auspicious day. They have been readying their fucking signs, getting marching permits and stocking up on drinks and food in order to celebrate this fucking AUSPICIOUS Day!!! In their fucking deranged minds it was a great auspicious day guaranteed to further their traitorous fucking cause.
A news alert popped up on my pooter screen when the magic number was announced. Where were the headlines that the Iraqi had ratified their constitution by 80%? When was the last time anything in this country ever passed by more than 60%?
How do you suppose that the family of #2000 (did they have the courtesy to give him a name) felt?
I heard another interesting twist/spin on statistics today. Rather than reporting that 70% of the casualties in Iraq had no families, it was reported that 30% did!!

Too bad that red-nosed, mistress-drowning, drunk-driving, traitorous piece of shit didn't die in the same car wreck he killed his girl-friend in.

U.S. casualties in Iraq comprise, as of today, 1,562 hostile and 439 non-hostile deaths.
So sometime next year, perhaps, the ghouls in the media will be able to spin this story up again to mark the 2,000th KIA. I'm surprised they missed the opportunity to gleefully report on the 1,500th KIA.
If you think I'm being cynical, this is exactly what happened at 1,000 total deaths and a few months later at 1,000 KIAs.
How do you suppose that the family of #2000 (did they have the courtesy to give him a name) felt?Lance Corporal Jonathan R. Spears, 3rd BN, 7th Marines. He was 21 years old, from Molino, Florida.
RIP
He was killed in action in Ramadi. Since the mainstream media only seems to care about the deaths as numbers, you have to go to people like Bill Roggio to find out what these soldiers and Marines are actually doing that puts them in harm's way:

The way the media reports it, you would think that U.S. servicemen and women are just passively sitting around waiting to be the next tick on the casualty clock, rather than actively going into the fight against an enemy that would probably prefer killing easier enemies like Iraqi schoolchildren, Israeli restaurant patrons, German tourists and American bond-traders.

I have probably mentioned this before, but...
Nancy was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences a few years ago, as was ted kennedy. There were a select few inductees who were asked to give a short talk (Nancy, and ted included), and a small group were invited to a private dinner afterward. ted was supposed to sit at our table, I was really looking forward to a serious discussion with him, I even mentioned this to our hosts, one of whom was Rita Colwell who was head of the NSF. She was also in the Oval Office when I took on bill clinton during Nancy's awarding of the NMS.
I was asked very nicely by a couple of people if I intended to behave myself at dinner. I responded that I would behave at least as well as did ted k. at Chappaquiddick!
For whatever reason kennedy did not come to the dinner, he was called away on urgent business.

I think that congress is composed of more than a few pompous self serving asses...What surprises me is that he is re-elected time after time.

I heard the sound bite on the radio this morning.. I'm not sure it is in print. It was on "Patriot Radio" on SIRIUS!! The words were something like:" I thank you for allowing me to address you on this auspicious day." The words "Auspicious Day" are verbatim.
If it helps any, Sen. Byrd was also there. It may have been fabricated but I doubt it. I am inclined that they immediately realised the poor choice of words and squelched it. BUT __ someone recorded it!!

If it will help it was on SIRIUS Right and the Mike Church Show.
DAYEM!! I just visited his web site and now I'm not sure the sound bite wasn't a parody. I wrote an E-mail asking if it was an actual recording of Kennedy.
Shows to go ya: "Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see!!"
It still reflects the attitude of the extreme left.
The left has been waiting for the number 2000 since they've had coordinated anti-war "Bring 'em home" rallies or whateverthehell they want to call them. Idiots, the lot of them.

2,000: A Bogus Number, A Bitter Cause
By Michelle Malkin
October 26, 2005
The anti-war Left couldn't wait for the death of the 2,000th soldier in Iraq. Peace activists have been gearing up for protests, vigils, and other events this week to mark the completely bogus milestone. Why 2,000? Was the 2nd or 555th or 1,678th death not as worth mourning as any other death with nice round numbers?
Cindy Sheehan barely contained her macabre lust for the spotlight in preparation for the artificially constructed, media-hyped occasion. "I'm going to go to Washington, D.C., and I'm going to give a speech at the White House, and after I do, I'm going to tie myself to the fence and refuse to leave until they agree to bring our troops home," Sheehan told a reporter last week as the death count neared her lottery number pick.
"And I'll probably get arrested, and when I get out, I'll go back and do the same thing," she vowed.
This time, Sheehan's public relations team would be wise to make sure she tries not to look like she's having so much fun. The carnival-like atmosphere that surrounded her arrest at the White House last month did little to convince military families that Sheehan and her pink lingerie-clad Bush-bashing brigade have the troops' best interest at heart.
Those "911 was an inside job" and "Castrate Cheney" signs didn't help much either.
U.S. Army Lt. Col. Steve Boylan, director of the force's combined press center, is pushing back against the inevitable media tide. He deserves our support. In an e-mail to the press that should be disseminated far and wide, he properly challenged the anti-war movement's number as a phony excuse to protest.
"I ask that when you report on the events, take a moment to think about the effects on the families and those serving in Iraq," Boylan wrote on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press (which has been among Sheehan's most ardent sycophants). "The 2,000 service members killed in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom is not a milestone. It is an artificial mark on the wall set by individuals or groups with specific agendas and ulterior motives."
Indeed. These are people, remember, who liken Iraqi terrorists to America's Minutemen during the Revolutionary War.
Who oppose not only the war in Iraq, but also the invasion of Afghanistan after the Sept. 11 attacks.
Who believe the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and at Shanksville, Pa., were a Bush conspiracy with Israel and/or Saudi Arabia.
Who applaud when left-wing professor Ward Churchill gloats about "chickens coming home to roost" and suggests that the peace movement should support the fragging of American troops.
Who use the names and images of dead American soldiers against their families' wishes to propagate anti-Bush hatred.
Who believe Saddam Hussein should be freed and Guantanamo Bay emptied.
Who carry around banners that proclaim "WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS WHEN THEY SHOOT THEIR OFFICERS."
Lt. Col. Boylan reminded the media that "the 2,000th Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine that is killed in action is just as important as the first that died and will be just as important as the last to die in this war against terrorism and to ensure freedom for a people who have not known freedom in over two generations." He advised journalists to pay as much attention to the true milestones in the war -- including the momentous events of Iraqis voting, training for the police and security forces, and joining the new government.
"Celebrate the daily milestones, the accomplishments they have secured and look to the future of a free and democratic Iraq and to the day that all of our troops return home to the heroes welcome they deserve," Boylan urged.
For the "peace activists" who hate the president with far more energy than they could ever muster in genuine support of our troops, this simple request to appreciate the fruits of hard-fought freedom is too much to ask. And too much for them to bear.

You know, I got pretty pissed off yesterday too. For awhile, the media had stopped reporting how many had died in Iraq. But then, magically, the counting started back up again at around 1900 or so. I suspected it was for only one purpose. Sure enough, it was so they could make a front page headline out of number 2000.
What was the most dissappointing out of all of it, is that Fox jumped on the bandwagon and ran it as well. :(
Hell, even Armytimes.com ran it!
Frankly, I'm done with the mainstream media. If it's important enough, I'll hear about it.*

*Edited to Add: lol I forgot. I don't need the mainstream news anymore. I've got AL's daily INTSUM! Thanks AL! :D
I believe the auspicious part is that it's the 2,000 American soldier to die who the liberals do not know personally, are not related too and who they would not give a rat's ass about if did not further their bullshit agenda.
Say what you want about Teddy, but he still has the most clever campaign slogan:
"A blond in every pond."
Auspicious can simply mean 'a good day to make a decision'. (look at dictionary.com before you attack me)
However, Kennedy is an idiot for using a word that is commonly used (mostly in fortune cookies) to describe something lucky or miraculous. I'm sure that this wasn't what he meant, because saying that the 2000th death of a U.S. soldier is ausipicious is political suicide for anybody.

You would think that getting drunk and driving off a bridge with a young woman (not your wife), then swimming to shore and leaving her trapped to die while you waited to sober up would be political suicide as well, but several million Massachusetts residents seem to feel differently.
He can say anything and get away with it, just like another senior Democratic Senator can describe his time in the KKK as a "youthful indiscretion" while using the N-word on the Senate floor and during interviews and not be called to answer for it. Double standards.

Actually I did look at a dictionary prior to posting.
"Auspicious
a. Having omens or tokens of a favorable issue; giving promise of success, prosperity, or happiness; predicting good; as, an auspicious beginning.
a. Prosperous; fortunate; as, auspicious years.
a. Favoring; favorable; propitious; -- applied to persons or things.
attended by favorable circumstances; "an auspicious beginning for the campaign"
What you say "could" be the case but unlikely in the context. I believe Kennedy meant it but someone else caught the political ramifications and squelched it.
I firmly believe that even if he didn't mean it as you think he did, he's a total idiot for letting a word commonly used to mean lucky even come to MIND regarding the death of a soldier.
While in a democracy disagreement over a war is healthy and should only be challenged through good argument, it takes a sick, sad person to breed a loathing for the people that protect our country.
