The new list for IPAP (Interservice Physician Assistant Program) came out yesterday...
Only 3 18D's for the whole year. At least they grouped them all into the same class.
Good luck men-study hard.

That's understandable. In 1964 they came out with the 913 (I think) preventive medicine MOS and slots for Group. Few volunteered since it meant being slotted out of Operational Detachments.
91S maybe?
Maybe. They didn't use the alfanumeric code in 1964. My MOS was 0511329 ( Intermediate speed radio operator, SF qualified with German language),:D

Not really...Unfortunately it is not for a lack of 18 Series applicants (there were over 70 this year)...it is because of the 8 year time in service restriction and the limited number of waivers now being granted against it by the board.
In the end...this leads to fewer and fewer of the Groups getting SF qualified PA's for their BN's. Currently, out of over 500 PA there are fewer than 35 that are SF qualified remaining in the Army.

Gotcha sir. I don't know what the Preventive Med Specialists are now, but in the early 90's they were 91S. Cause I was "lucky" enough to go through the course. Although being at Ft. Sam for 4 months was somewhat interesting.

I was a 91S Preventive Medicine Specialist in SF. Went through Phase 1, then the first part of SF 91B at Bragg, which was basically the same as 91A at the time. They asked for volunteers for 91S, which gave a shorter route to Group, about 6 of us volunteered and went straight to Ft. Sam for 91S training. After that, then Robin Sage then to Group. Although at the time it was officially a B Team slot, we were regularly used as 91A type, working with the senior 91B's in the field. Low level stuff like suturing, resetting dislocations, etc. A few went to VN into CC slots, since some of us also had an 11B from AIT. My MOS was 91S2SAE since I was SF qualified and attended Arabic Language School while in 6th Group. I think the 91S thing must have been some kind of experiment in SF at the time since there weren't many of us. SF in the late 60's was still kind of feeling its way as to what their capacities would be.
