I just bought a 9mm STAR BM. It is similar to the 1911 but has several differences. For one, it won't fire with the mag removed. This prevents many unintentional discharges I have seen and heard of with the 1911.
Back to the subject, reading I see that depending upon the type of firing pin (inertial or non-inertial) when the weapon in in Class !! safe condition, a blow to the hammer can cause it to fire.
Not being up on Law Enforcement and other firearm terminology, what are the different classes of safe. I would guess that Class II is with a round in the chamber and the hammer forward (uncocked).
