I will be in Vegas for the Shooting Hunting, and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in February.

Most of the major weapons, ammo, tactical gear, etc. firms will be there.

Anyone wants to effect a link-up, or needs me to run something to ground for them, just let me know.

I also have last year's directory, if you need contact data for any of the companies.

Me too! I have a trial and some other stuff that may prevent me from getting there, but I'd like to try.

Several hundred acres of guns, ammo, and related gear, IIRC. Creds and or registration required to get it, and it is expensive.

I know quite a few of the Military/LEO vendors, for anyone needing gear info.

Anyone wishing to effect a link up, PM me your contact data, and I'll pass you mine.

Hey Doc:

"Good Deal Gary" should be there, along with APLP, MSTN, and a bunch of my homies.

Mel, welcome to the forum! Guys, if you have any Kifaru questions, Mel's the man with the plan, and the brains behind some of the design features you see on the military line of rucks.

Sorry guys, but this trial is going to prevent me from making it this time. Too much work to do. I hope I'll get a heads up next time any of you are within striking distance of LA.

If you had TOLD me you'd be in Palm Springs, I would have come over there and bought the cold ones and/or bottle! Next time, don't be so shy. I will do the same if I make it to your neck of the woods.

Veni, Vidi, Veci.

Good to meet MM, Eggroll, APLP, Sinister Dave, and a bunch of guys from some other boards.

Seriously, as MM will tell you, it was too much to recap in total here. I took my wife's pedometer, and by it, I walked 45 miles in 4 days at the show. There were thousands of booths, including several dedicated to airsofters, Kalifornia and other places where real guns are frowned on.

Will try to answer specific questions, if there are any.

My opinion is just that and reflects my personal prejudices toward the weapons I choose to use.

I thought that the H&K M-4 uppers, the Sage International M-14s, the SIG 1911 pistols, the new Remington 870 LE package, the latest M-249 and M-240 variants, the new Leupold 3-9x MRT and Nightforce 2.5-10x NXS optics, the new Surefire LED lights (L1, L2, L-4, U-2), the LeMas ammo show (with X-Rays and documented post mortems) and some Eagle nylon were all interesting and worth taking a look at.

I was on a budget and bought a few Surefire LED lights, a new ARMS #40 L BUIS, a set of Badger Ordnance rings, an Otis cleaning kit, a couple of sets of Trijicon night sights, several pieces of Eagle nylon, a couple of new model Ergo grips, a couple of new Photon Microlights, a Photon Fusion headlamp, and some ammo.

HTH.

IT was good to link up with everyone there - Wish I could have stuck around on Sunday... buying binge and all :)

The Scorpion Camo display at Eagle was interesting.

TR - Will keep you advised on the progress of that mag carrier design.

Impressions? The SOCOM 16 M1A was interesting, although the tactical FAL from DSA will be my next purchase on the 762 list.

The PCA (Polymer Cased Ammunition) from NATEC was an interesting concept.

I'd have to concur with most of TR's bullet points on notable items of interest.

Looking forward to future collaborations

I have to admit, I took no photos, as it made some people nervous. Well, even more nervous than they normally are.

Egg did get some decent ones.

I would also add that the new Leatherman Wave and Charge Ti looked great, and should be out soon. Better sheaths, better blade configs, LOCKING, non-bunching blades, built in accessory driver and the New Wave is $6 LESS than the old.

The Charge is super nice, with extra blades, very trick carrying options, and Titanium scales, but is a bit more $ than the wave.

Can scan pics from the 50 lbs. of catalogs I brought home, though, if desired.

not to mention the Charge had a crimper notch

Yes.

It is somewhat improved.

It still has the "Shoot here" light on top where the fiber optic rail is illuminated by the battery powered lamp with the cheesy rubber cover, the belled objective which will allow no cover or insert, and causes the TX30 not to fit on the ARMS #22M68 mount it was designed for.

Other than that, it is fine.

Oh Yeah, REAPER, Let me just give the short version of that "E Ticket" ride comment. Here's the setting, late at night in Las Vegas, Chris Reeve is driving. Chris has been drinking tea too. Chris used to be a Grand Prix motorcycle racer. Chris is now driving a one ton 4 wheel drive 6 pack truck. Chris is locked and loaded at the starting line of a race track also known as "The Strip", 100,000 (true figure) extra people are in this town for three major conventions, all at the same time. they are also all on "The Strip". Chris is allergic to going slow. We are not moving. This is going to get fun. Oh yeah, I forgot the part about having Reaper in the backseat. Reaper is in the back seat. Chris sees what may be an opening develop up ahead. This is kinda like being in that movie "The Matrix" Chris see's things before they happen. "The Force" tells him that there may be a parting of the sea and if he guns it hard, it will happen as he gets there. This becomes true. One side of his truck is wiped clean by the silk shirt of some babe riding on the back of her boyfriends motorcycle. We go one by, bike is still upright. Just another day at the office. Glad to be able to give you a ride home Reaper. Bill

See, it was like this....

There were four of us in the truck, but only three in the story.

Raoul Duke (Mr. Reeve), Dr. Gonzo (Mr. Harsey), me (the Narrator), and this kid we found hitchhiking in the desert.

The story was called: "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream"

We pick it up from the conversation in the truck:

"Raoul Duke: I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.

Narrator: Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas, and a voice was screaming....

Raoul Duke: Holy Jesus. What are these god**** animals?

Dr. Gonzo: Did you say something?

Raoul Duke: Hm? Never mind. It's your turn to drive.

Narrator: No point in mentioning these bats, I thought. Poor bastard will see them soon enough

Raoul Duke: What? No. We can't stop here. This is bat country.

Hitchhiker: Hot damn. I never rode in a convertible before.

Raoul Duke: Is that right? Well... I guess you're about ready, then, aren't you?

Dr. Gonzo: We're your friends. We're not like the others, man, really.

Raoul Duke: No more of that talk or I'll put the f***ing leeches on you, understand?

Dr. Gonzo: Heh heh heh...

Raoul Duke: Get in.

Narrator: How long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then? This same lonely desert was the last known home of the Manson family; will he make that grim connection when my attorney starts screaming about bats and huge manta rays coming down on the car? If so, well, we'll just have to cut his head off and bury him somewhere, 'cause it goes without saying that we can't turn him loose. He'd report us at once to some kind of outback Nazi law enforcement agency and they'll run us down like dogs. Jesus, did I say that? Or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me?

Dr. Gonzo: It's okay. He's just admiring the shape of your skull.

Narrator: Perhaps, if I explained things, he'd rest easy.

Raoul Duke: I want you to understand that this man at the wheel is my attorney. He's not just some dingbat I found on the strip, man. He's a foreigner. I think he's probably Samoan. But that doesn't matter, though, does it? Are you prejudiced?

Hitchhiker: Hell no!

Raoul Duke: I didn't think so. Because in spite of his race, this man is very valuable to me. Oh, shit. I forgot about the beer. You want one?

Hitchhiker: No.

Raoul Duke: How 'bout some ether?

Hitchhiker: What?

Raoul Duke: Never mind."
