Didn't see any comments on the President's speech before the National Endowment for Democracy.

I personally felt that it was the first time the GWOT was defined by President Bush. What I took from the speech;

1. We are not cutting and running.
2. He publicly put Iran and Syria on notice AGAIN, but this time with the same fervor following 9/11.
3. He took shots at past administrations unwillingness to address pre 9/11 terrorist attacks.
4. He admonished the Islamic Clerics for their silence/tacit approval of terrorism.
5. He called the terrorists; murderers, cowards, butchers, and compared them to the world's most notorious creeps, Hitler, Pol Pot, et.al.
6. He stepped on alot of toes like Russia, Korea, Vietnam, and Cuba.

I believe it was a great war time speech. And it is about time!

The only drawback is he gave credit to Europe for their part in the GWOT. I believe he should have admonished them for sitting on the sidelines.

Just my thoughts!

This is the one that bothers me:
1. We are not cutting and running.

He can say that all he wants but, with our system of government, he has three years to wind this up. The enemy knows this and only needs to mark time until the next election. If they are smart, and I believe they are, they will do nothing to piss off the american public, such as 9-11. That would be self-defeating. :boohoo

I have to painflully agree with what you have said here. I don't think the majority of the American populace, is aware of how true the President's statements are.

If this happens, Katy bar the door!

Prediction:

Barring unforseen circumstances, during the next Presidential election, both candidates will run on bringing the troops home, "Peace with Honor", and "Iraqitization" of the war.

Yep!! You spell that "Vietnamization".

We need to do away with FDR's ammendment and allow the elected Government to carry out their programs to completion. There can be continuity in the Legislative and Judicial Branches and IMHO there needs to be more continuity in the Executive Branch. If it were known that Bush were there until the GWOT is brought to a conclusion there would be more incentive for our enemies to rethink their positions,\.

I hope you are wrong, but fear you may not be.
