Guys:

I read the August 2004 thread on the Sage stocks for the M-14. I hope that I am not breaking a rule here by opening this as a new thread. That was over a year ago and I am sure that more experience has been gathered on these stocks under the M-14.

I have fired the Springfield SOCOM model recently and it showed a continual series of failures to extract with M-80 ball, M-118 SB, and M-118 LR. Yes, we checked and nothing appeared wrong with anything. I figure the short barrel was the issue but I won't damn the stock because of this. It was heavy as hell though and the balance was way out front.

If I acquire one, it will have a full up service grade M-14 on top so I imagine that it will function.

Anyone out there who has one of these and has put it through some very tough conditions since last year? I mean conditions where you had to transition rapidly from supported aimed fire at small targets to quick kill and or CQB -- and to include shooting while moving.
