Perhaps it is time that FEMA, the National Guard, Coast Guard and U.S. military be relieved of their rescue and recovery efforts in the Katrina disaster area and the media be given the responsibility for the effort.

Virtually every report that one sees, hears or reads from the media is filled with an "I could do better" attitude. These arrogant, self-important types need to shed their "holier-than-thou" attitude and get behind those whose responsibility it is to deal with this disaster rather than denigrate and belittle their efforts.

The media need to put aside their own petty agendas and start doing something constructive. To paraphrase an old cliche -- those who can, do; those who can't become reporters.

But the media did do a great job of spreading panic about an impending gas shortage. Sort of a self fulfilling prophecy after everyone went out and bought every drop they could.

Hell, that is all that the news is concerned with now days. They have found tha tthey can be great prophets through self fulfilling prophesies. The simple act of shrill, sensationlistic reporting, means tha the people will react as they, the news wags, reported would occur.

Look at their predictions of nothing but bad in Iraq. Got the "average" American believing it by simply not reporting any good.
