If you have not had the chance to catch this show it is on the Travel Channel and obviously Anthony Bourdain is the host. Basically he travels the world checking out ultra local cuisine. I mean he goes to places like Malaysia, Vietnam and so forth and travels well out into the bush (guided) to eat and learn about food from the locals.
Of course Bourdains somewhat of a smartass so there is a humorous side to the show as well. If you get the chance to catch an episode I suggest this one for the TiVo. Check your local provider for times or do a Google on "no reservations" and it should be the first hit.
I like this guy. I read the original book that made him famous, Kitchen Confidential, which is a good read, and the basis of all his new TV success.

He had another show last season that featured some wild outings. They had one where they bought him a still beating Cobras heart in a shot of vodka or whatever local spirits they had.

There was also an episode where he was eating Iguana tacos....I think he said something like "the worst thing he's ever eaten." I think it's pretty funny watching him partake of the local alcholic specialties.

I watched last night, he was in Iceland and fermented Shark was the worst thing he'd ever eaten. Then he ate the pickled sheeps testicles. It was in the middle of a feast celebrating Viking heritage and it was the worst meal he'd ever eaten.
My favorite is his meal of Squeezle in a Montagnard village.

Read that too. Makes me think twice about EVER eating in a restaurant! Especially in NYC!

My wife and I have 20+ years of restaurant experience between the two of us (we actually met because we both worked at the same restaurant) and I can tell you that many people would be surprised at what goes on behind the scenes in any restaurant. From the flea bag, greasy spoons all the way through 5 star joints, those kitchens have their skeletons.
