I agree this is no way to show our flag, but isn't the article's substance what we need? To have American muslims talking about american civic duties is a step in the right direction. This country was founded on the principle of freedom to practice one's religious beliefs. Is this not the beginning of some kind of a "Rennaisance of Islam" that was discussed on another thread? I am no muslim, but I feel that in order to gain progress in our relations with our muslim "allies" we need to show them we can live in unity here, in the land of the free...and still find/fix the few islamic radicals that live among us.

Thoughts?

Why do they need to change the flag to show unity?

I would say that "we" thought we were living in unity prior to 9-11. Since that time people have taken a closer look at the followers of Islam in the US and found that it appears that they do not want to live in unity with us. They want to live here but live as if they were "there". A few fatwas is a nice first step but we'll see.

I like the push to use the Quran in our courts. A follower of Islam can put his/her hand on anything and swear anything because it does not mean a thing. There is not lie when a follower of Islam talks to infidels. That will be an interesting case taken to the SCTOUS. "But Your Honor, it was not purjury, I was talking to an infidel".

^^^About 4 years too late don't you think??? These "scholars" had almost 4 years to come up with this. Makes you wonder if London never happened, they probably wouldn't have said a thing ever. Be advised, they are NOT saying this for our sake, they are trying to win "hearts and minds" so Muslims look better. Don't buy their crap man...

As for the "few" radicals among us, think again. Think about all the Muslims that feed, clothe, condone, and tacitly support the many who are willing to kill others. They can't be separated from someone with a vest filled with C4. They're all complicit and guilty.

Any good Muslim will choose Islam over any flag, country, constitution, etc. To them, Islam stands taller than anything else and is most important. So, choosing between a countries constitution and Islam is no choice. Islam and brutality will always be their choice.

An example would be that lame "folk" singer "Cat Stevens" who has been a Muslim for a long time and is now referred to as "Yusuf Islam." Wonderful.

Remember when a book called the "Satanic Verses" hit the shelves in the late 80's??? Muslims didn't like it and put out a worldwide "hit" in the name of Islam on the author, Salmon Rushdie. Old "Cat," err, "Yusuf" was asked if it was ok in the name of Islam to have Rushdie murdered for writing the book. To paraphrase, he said "yes." If your "religion" condones killing someone for writing a book, your "religion" is not valid. On the catstevens.com header image it says "I never wanted to be a star. Don't worry dude, you never were, LMFAO...

Here's some pics of some good "muslims" in action. Where were these "scholars" then???

Where's that LeMas ammo....

Don't post pictures of dead American troops or contractors on this site. Have some respect for the families. If someone has a problem with this take it up with an Admin.

I agree with that approach.

As for the flag being disrespected that way, I am extremely offended. I hate CBS anyway.

Sorry. Sometimes I connect too hard. My intentions were good.

Everything's been very public for a while. Not like it's an OPSEC violation or anything. S.H.'s death pissed me off, along with the others. He lived close to me, even though I never knew him. Watched Combat Missions though.

I'm hoping for some armed contract work in '06. That could be me or anyone over there if things went bad. Just trying show what we're facing. That's reality. I think facing the worst will only make a person stronger.

What would S.H. say???

Would he want those pictures taken down??? I doubt it.

He'd probably say: "Hey guys, remember us and what happened to us. Don't forget..."

Yeah, it's hard to look at that. But you have to. It's reality...

The enemy we're facing will strap on 30 lbs of C-4 to make their point. What if they had something more powerful??? Facing the worst that can happen can only free you up for a more successful mission in the long run...

Am I right or am I wrong??? Hard to say. I would hope that the average person could feel my anger, loyalty, and patriotism. I'd rather take a bullet than have my team say I failed them.

My Father was a B-29 combat pilot in WW2. I was in the Army. You can bet the real U.S. Flag flew from our house. I could shoot, field strip, and reassemble a 1911 in less less a minute when I was 7 years old, (my Dad was cool. :D )

I've attended two Veteran funerals in the last few years at Riverside National Cemetary, one of them was my Father.

On active duty I've served on burial details and fired blanks through M-16's at military funerals, so I understand the responsibility to the family and what military families feel like when a loved one dies.

Again, sorry if I went too far.

Regarding S.H., They say a man's not truly gone until he's forgotten...

On a more lighthearted note, I'm going to do some more pullups... :D

Detcord,

You've decided to take your opinions public and now I will also.

You're NOT a member of the Special Forces, and you are not Special Forces qualified.

Do not infer to our readers that you are one of us on our boards, its not a smart idea.

You are a guest here, nothing else.

The members with the "Quiet Professional" as their title are vetted past and present Special Forces personnel and theres about two hundred of them on here.

Many of us have lost friends in combat and training and do not need to see the graphic pictures to remind us of their patriotism or just how ruthless our adversaries can be.

In the future ask an admin before posting pictures we may find disturbing.

Precisely my thought.

Leave my Country's Flag the hell alone.
