How many YEARS have MEN been puting this EXACT arguement forward? How many times have they brought it up to congress? Brought it up in the courts only to be shot down by flippin DACOWITS???
Yet, let this female officer bring it up in a public forum, and all of the sudden it is "worthy of careful scrutiny"
AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!
I absolutely hope that we get the desired result-I just hate that men have worked against this for so long and been absolutely IGNORED, yet let one WOMAN complain-and all of the sudden...POOF! it is suddenly important.

I feel your pain, bro....every month ...right about the first of the month, actually. I hope it gets changed, but even though it's got a new spin on it, I doubt much if anything will change anytime soon.

How many YEARS have MEN been puting this EXACT arguement forward?

My first was working when we got married. She immediately quite work and took the next 5 years getting her 2 year degree. She didn't want to be stressed. At first she was a good wife while I was home but then started to party with her single friends while I was gone. The last year she tried to work at a couple of places but they weren't good enough for her.

At least there was no kids and we parted on somewhat friendly terms. She got the bank accounts, everything in the house and a trip to Penny's with the charge card. I got all the bills and the land in IA.

The bill was bad because it was crafted at the end of the age of the stay at home Mom (mostly, you stay at home Moms don't hit me with that fry pan). By the late 80's you could see the dual income families with the non-military professional earning more than the military spouse.

I don't like an income distribution and I don't like fault hearings for the retired pay. I could go for a child support (kids do grow up) and time-limited alimony debit from retired pay if court ordered.

Retired pay is not a pension. It is pay for services retained. The courts have found that way because a retired person is subject to recall.

Men have been bitching ever since this started. But now the politicians sit up and take notice when she-males are hit by it.

this is one of those hot-button issues that makes me crazy in the head.

hate to say it, but I hope that her ex-husband spends all the money that she is forced to send him on ridiculously young live-in girlfriends, whom he should relentlessly refuse to marry.

I further hope that he spends the money that she sends on essential items like high-end stereo equipment, exotic vacations, and designer lingerie.

I also hope that more and more men will divorce military wives, and take them to the freakin' cleaners.

if the law disappears, does it matter that it took a woman complaining about it to make it go away...?

No, but it is a major rub that they ignored it UNTIL a woman complained.

No, but it is a major rub that they ignored it UNTIL a woman complained. can't argue with that...never the less, if the law of unintended consequences require the congresscritters to reconsider the error of their ways, so be it...

The last big congressional presentation of this I can remember was from a Navy Master Chief. Poor guy spent 32 years in the Navy...was married to three women for about 10 years each, and all three of them were awarded 50 percent. He was working to pay the DIFFERENCE in THEIR retirement award.
It was ridiculous...I wanted to send to guy $$$ :(

I heard a story that one Soldier ETSed instead of retiring so that he wouldn't have to give his ex-wife any retirement pay. He was that dead set against it.
