OK, so I had a late hockey game last night and didn't get home until early morning. I finally get to bed and I hear some guy outside screaming for help. I go outside to see what's going on. Can't see the guy, but I can tell he's down the street. He's yelling, "help me, help me." Then he says "he's got a shotgun! He shot me!"

At this point I go inside and call 911. I tell them what's going on and they tell me not to go help the guy because they'll be there right away. And frankly, I wasn't so confident about that, but I go to the window to watch. Within about 45 seconds, I hear a helicopter overhead and see it come over my street with a searchlight. Then about 30 seconds later, paramedics and a fire truck are driving down the middle of the street looking for the guy. Then come a bunch of police cars.

So I go outside to see what's going on, and see that a bunch of my neighbors are doing the same thing. (In LA, people usually don't get to know many of their neighbors for some reason.) I introduce myself to one of them who says she heard the guy saying "I killed her!" through her window. (When I told her which house is mine, she says, "Oh, you're the Republican. I'm a Republican too. We're probably the only two in the whole neighborhood." So I tell her the story of the signs . . . .)

We see that the firemen have all left and there are four police cars and eight cops arresting a guy named "Eduardo." One of the cops comes over and lets us know that no one was killed or anything -- the guy is under the influence of strong narcotics of some kind, and they are removing him from the neighborhood so everyone can go back to sleep.

Anyway, I was pretty impressed by the LAPD. And glad I called 911 instead of attempting to help the guy myself. Probably would have ended up shooting him or something. :)

In a very tough week for LAPD, it's nice to see them get props.

LMAO!

Kudos to the LAPD, best in that case you didn't go to his "aid".

I remember once I had someone banging on my doors/windows in the middle of the night and it scared the hell out of me. Called 911 and I had 3 squads there in probably about a minute flat. Turned out it was my ass of a neighbor who decided to get high on something or other. I made sure he never came near me again... :lifter
