On this July 4th holiday while everyone is enjoying parades, picnics, fireworks etc. (or moving and unpacking for the second time in 30 days :D ) I will remember all that have fought for our Country from its inception to those of you fighting and serving in the present day.

I think too of those that are joining and training even now to ultimately go forth in the future to keep secure our Nation and our Freedoms. It is humbling to think back and reflect on the dedication, personal sacrifices and yes the bloodshed that our Country was founded upon. Our Military has, does and will continue to make these sacrifices; not only for America's citizens but for the Brother to their left and to their right.

May God bless each of you who have served, you that are in harm's way now, and those brave Warriors that have given the ultimate sacrifice. Because of you we are free and able to go about our days. I don't know how we can ever repay the debts we owe you. I will continue to find ways and to do my best until my dying breath. I will NEVER forget.

Happy 4th of July!

I'm off tp the Hope Mills parade this afternoon, cookout with the family for supper and round out the day with the Fort Bragg fireworks starting at 2145 Hours.

I remember the Ft Bragg Fireworks and festival...one year they did Tschakovsky's "1812 overture" and used a battery from division for effect....talk about a lump in your throat!!

I've spent July 4th's in Germany (X3...at least) Latvia, Bosnia (X2)...inflight over the Atlantic, and Turkey.

Today I am on duty, and I thank and honor the memory of my brothers who have fallen over the last 2 centuries so that we may enjoy this day in freedom and peace.

To our brothers who are at this very moment in harm's way I say:

God bless you and protect you. May you return home to your families and our nation healthy and whole. Thank you for your sacrifices, that our children for generations and generations to follow, will enjoy the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today.

To all,

Have a safe and fun 4th. I'll continue to mark this day as a strong reason to remember past, present and future sacrifices that we sometimes may forget.

Please take the time to remember the true occasion as to why this day is so special. Remind your children that the displays of fireworks they so excitedly wait for every year came with a price.

I'll mark this day as another year I can still stand strongly on two feet and be proud to serve a greatful nation and have no shyness in saying that I am proud to be an American.

Let us not forget our families, friends and loved ones that put forth the effort to secure our freedoms. Be it civil or military, all are to be held in the highest regard as everyday heroes.

To the unsung heroes behind the troops, and to the continued freedoms that all continue to benefit from. To those men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Enjoy it while it lasts, and remember that Mr. Firecracker is not your friend when lit. :)

Others appreciate our sacrifices and the ideals our country stands for as well. I remember getting off a helicopter on the 4th of July in El Salvador during their unpleasantness and being greeted by the Brigade Commander with whom I would spend most of the next six months. He had the Brigade Band and a deligation of his officers and men there to welcome us and play "Happy Birthday" for America. (He was also an astute politician!) It was a memorable event that I still look back on fondly. It also reminded me of what was expected of me by my country and the people I had been sent to work with. It certainly gave my mission a personal perspective. Peregrino

I would have loved to have seen that!

I'll be going home for dinner tonight and fireworks with the wife and kids. :)

I bought my 3 year old what she calls a "Country Flag" (I think derived from "our country's flag") and we talked all day about how it's our country's birthday and how everyone in the military goes away and keeps us safe.

Thanks for that, and Happy Independance Day.

Happy Independance day to all. I remember the last 4th of July I spent overseas; I was in Baharain (yeah, tough deployment) and I was getting ready to board the plane to head back to the States ( I was at my EOS) and as we took off there were fireworks launching into the sky. Since Baharain was ahead of the US by several hours, I got home before the US 4th of July celebrations. It was totally cool to get home and be able to truly celebrate Independance Day.
