My friend Drew of the group Planet9 has been working for a number of months preparing to tour and write a song to generate funds for the National Guard Famliy Relief Fund.
The song is now available for download at: http://www.plan9theband.com/Plan9%20EPK/heroes.htm
CD won't be out for another 2 -3 weeks.
I may be biased, but I like what he put together.
There is a sample on the site (well, they plan on having a sample - not quite updated yet ).
UPDATE:
Download availability date for the single moved to July 1st.

I find all of this very amusing. Now don't get me wrong, I am glad folks are taking an interest in what the military does and want to do what they can to help things along. I have been listening to all these folks up here who have reservists and guard members they know called up on active duty sniveling like rats eating onions about all their hardships, pay cuts, pay losses and the like. Suddenly when you have full time citizens who are involved as part time soldiers the hue and cry goes up about the plight of their families and the hardships they are suddenly enduring, but wait did someone hold a frigging gun to their head and tell them to join? Maybe I am missing something here.
Jack Moroney-knowing that the full time citizen part time soldiers are doing great things but full time soldiers who by the way are also full time citizens having been doing much more for longer periods with less support while suffering the indignities from the very folks who now are worried about their neighbors who have been called to pay the piper. Give me a break!

Well, Sir, at least now they know where not to go to for sympathy.
I figure that anyone raising money for military families, part time or full, is a worthy cause.
