Hey everyone,
Just checkin back in and updatin everyone how my knee is doin, well thats not the only reason but I just recently had the doctor give me a prescription for a really cool new way of treating my knee. As he explained it to me I was shocked, what the thing is, is a small box with batteries that sits on your belt of your pants. And throughout the day as I walk, run, work out or do whatever I turn it on and it shocks my muscles in my knee to start working again as they used to. This way I will be up and going at full speed in 5 months or so. They say that even after a month or so I will see a huge improvement. The reason I have to use it is because one of the muscles in my leg stopped working at full capacity. The doctor was saying that when your body feels pain, it shuts down that muscle. And after my surgery my body felt a lot of pain, therefore shutting that muscle down and making the rest of my muscles work harder, which than probobly caused my knee to swell. So if I can use this device to get my muscles going again I can actually build my muscles stronger than they ever were, just by doing my regular workout routine that I did before. Just thought you guys might like this, I think its pretty damn cool.
Chris

What you describe is called a TENS unit (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation). They have been used for a long time in rehab therapy. Good luck on your recovery Chris.

Man, how did it evolve from a legitimate rehab modality to my late-night TV promising I'll never have to do crunches again? :D

Good luck with your recovery Chris!

Thanks guys,
I was thinkin the same thing, I used to watch it on TV, sit on the couch and get 6 pack abs and I would laugh, now in a way I will be getting stronger by just walking. Just seems cool to me, I think its because I am just really ready to get back on the ice and get stronger and get back into the swing of things.
thanks,
Chris
