Many QPs have served in multiple Groups, but I am told that your heart usually stays with one of them. So let's see the current distribution of QPs on the site.

I had to use "Other." I feel like the 12th SFGA was my home, because that is where I spent the most time.

I had to use "OTHER" also. Even though SOG wasn't a group my heart will always be there.

Wouldn't that be the 5th? We wore their flash and they handled all of our admin.
They requested we wear berets at the STMP ceremony. I am wearing a 5th Flash as the most appropriate.
I voted 10th since that is where I got all of my training which made a real SF soldier out of me.
I voted 10th also, that was my first Grp, and where I did my most growing up, even though I have spent more time in 3rd. Hell I've almost spent more time in Afghanistan then time in 10th :)
all of my A-team time was in 10th Group...nuff said...

Does support count? I was in 2nd Bn of 1st SF Group. I was in the MI Detachment. The great thing is that the BEST battalion commander and the BEST CSM that I have ever served under were there. LTC Firth and CSM Pennington (Wardog). That was one of the best assignments of my career.

I started in the 6th and ended in the 10th but feel that I was most effective in the 5th. I think I have a stronger bond with those I served in combat than in readiness training. Had I stayed in for a few more years and remained in the 10th, maybe I would change my opinion.
Still, I am proud to have been in all three.

Had to pick 5th even though I hated the AO and really enjoyed Europe when I was in 1-10th . I started my SF career there and went to the Gulf War with them so I'm kinda in the same boat as SFRADIOMAN.
1st Grp, spent time in all three Bns. Interesting to note that nobody has yet to claim 3rd Grp :p .

Except for 2 years in SWC, all my time has been in 10th, 5 years in 2nd Bn, 6 years in 1st Bn.

5th Group is the only one I've ever served with. Feels like home though, Dad was a team leader in the 1970s, plus it was the first unit I went to combat with.

Still no one from Third Group. I see them on the Board from time to time. Maybe they're shy?
I did time with 3rd and 5th. I would normally claim 3rd but based upon recent news reports, I will probably wait a couple of months before making that declaration.

I guess I'll step up to the plate. Signed in I think July of 91. My orders stated D co, 2BN. Took my over an hour to find out that meant I was in 3rd BN, but since it wasn't stood up yet orders said 2nd. Went into to see the SGM, he asked me a few questions about my past. Stated that the marops team could use a guy that grew up around the waters of Maine. He gave me a key to the team room and wished me luck. I opened the door to 4 walls and an empty room. Yep I was the new Team leader, TS and all as the first memeber ever of 381! When I was in the "Q", I filled out my dream sheet. Being from Maine one would think that 10th out of Mass would be my first choice, but I had enough of the cold. I came to the course from 101st and made some friend over in 5th. My first year in the 187th, I did two trips to NTC so that took the desert fight out of me. So I put down 3rd, 3rd anywhere but 5th down of my wish list. Funny as I write this from Afghanistan
I call Afghanistan, I mean 3rd, home. :D

5th Group(SOG RT was still the 5th). In the 7th and 10th all we did were FTX's and details.

10th - Devens
For me it was the 7th--two tours as an NCO (A-714 and A-742) and one as an officer (A-726, A-724, B-720) so I grew up there for a couple of reasons...and through our deployments to LA ('72, '81, '82), SEA ('80, '81), and Africa('80).

I spent my first three years in SF in 1/10 which might be more accurately described as the EUCOM group. I'm at Carson now and the differences between here and there are amazing. There seems to be a whole different mindset here. I love this place.

5th Group is home. First 3 years in SF in 1st Bn 5th at Bragg.
Since I served 15 years in 5th Group I've got to call it home.

My first Group was 10th Group, but I had more fun in 1st Grp and 7th Grp. Got a bit more time in 7th so claimed that as home. Hard to say though as I also enjoyed Thailand with 1st/46th.
Guess I'm just a fickle whore. :D
I'm currently making my home in 1/3. Gotta say, it's a pretty good assignment and glad that I was smart to call my branch manager for a support job in a group. :lifter

I was a very young guy in 1st group but was exposed to the best Mentoring available. I was the only Engineer on a ten man team (they were all redesigned to ten for a while) they took one engineer and one weapons man. So as a new out of the box engineer I was required by an exceptional Team Sgt. Walter McBroom to preform at a very professional level. He made me make myself an excellent Demo guy. That was what formed me and allowed me to be the Team Sgt I could be proud of. In retrospect it was my first home and set the standard. I absolutely loved all of the qroups. All did the same things in different parts of the world, with men by who I consider heros and brothers all.
So of the groups I was in I rate them a follows: 1st group my home. then 10th, 7th, and 5th. (I was also at DET-A Berlin and SWUFO Key West) both briar patch assignments but no home. Blitz

Grew up in 5th, but have to call 20th home because of all the years I spent there. Still carry my 5th Group coin though.

Home for me was the 46th Co. My first A-Team was in the 5th in 1971. Then 2 years with the 46th Co. I had orders for RVN but those were changed the day before we were to leave. We called Mrs. A and she got us into the 46th. I spent another year in the 12th Group at Fort MacArthur but the 46th is home.

I have to say tenth is where my time thus far was spent operationally. Twice in B 1-10 and once in C 1-10. I happen to have a german frau which allowed me the opportunity to speak german well enough not to go to language school, and be fortunate enough at the time to go to a team of well trained individuals who brought me up in the ways of the cold weather warrior. Now I learn from Rick how to be ABS:mad:

Started in the 10th, But my heart says , Gotta go with the Berlin unit; under the watchful eye of the Bulldog.
10th group also.
However, I must point out the voting itself will probably be a bit tilted towards the original groups (5th, 7th and 10th) as there are alot of the members here that were around before there were 1st or 3rd.

:p I am now to the point were I consider myself a F.O.G. (F*cking Old Guy). I get reminders everytime the weather gets cold and I climb out of bed. I remember when they cut our team by 50% to send guys out to the newly formed 1st Group. Couple years later, after the stripes came off our flash 3/5th became 1/3rd. But at that time I had moved on to 10th. :D
Started in 5th, got rolled into 3rd at the start up but I call 7th Home. Had a lot of fun in 5th also but Latinos do not blow their selfs up........

10th...at Devens. From there to Scan., Europe and the Mideast. But it was always nice to come home. The CSM had a handlebar mustache almost long enough to cover all of his SF years, and rucksacking under Rte. 2 provided views of MCI Shirley and the Quaker buildings few others were able to enjoy.

As I only served with the 8th SFG, I had to vote other. Here's a pic of me in front of the Co B 8th SFG sign. I had just returned from a parade and a buddy of mine took this pic.
I started in 3/5th (ODA 593). We eventually became 1/3rd (ODA 333). I count
3rd GRP as home since this is were, as Toney's Rangers, we the "bastard stepchildren" fought and endured the bad ol days. We were on a shoe string budget and had to resort to alott of creative writing and new math to function. Our engineers took lots of inspirations from the character "Peterson" to scrounge and or "liberate" many things and when we wern't stealing the newly re-constituted 3/5th budget or ammunition, we were busy inventing new ways for the air force to fly us, on their dime, to places like Donna Ana, FT Bliss, Ft Huachuca, White Sands and DA in the Desert....jd
