I tremendously enjoy Nevada. I was never there while I was in the service, but I go to Elko (which is Nevada's third largest city, located in north-central NV along the 80) every summer to work. It really is a great place; the people there provide a welcome relief from all the BS I have to deal with living in California. I enjoy the cowboy culture and past, I enjoy being around real down-to-earth folks, I enjoy the libertarian spirit (versus the socialist-type 'legislate everything!' spirit that pervades Santa Barbara). I enjoy the bars that have signs that say "Open 9AM - ?"; I enjoy the Basque steakhouses where you can get a filet the size of a softball (which you get after they've already stuffed you full of the first five courses). I enjoy the old-school bars that (cover your ears, FS) have piss troughs under the bar so that you don't even have to get up off of your stool; I enjoy the ranching and farming.

One of these days, when I actually have a chance to settle down, it'll definitely be in Nevada.

Sure, but have you forgotten rule #1?

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

I went to ride the wind tunnel there. Army paid for it. Very nice.

Never cared for gambling. I did enjoy the breakfast buffet at circus circus and running down the strip at sunrise though.

Never cared for gambling.
i don't gamble...but it is a staple of the local economy...heck, you can't buy groceries in this state without walking past a row or two of slot machines...

I grew up in Reno.

My parents still live there and my Brother went to UNLV.

So what do want to know?

How I took a buddy to the Mustang Ranch for his birthday, Creepy Area 51 type of stuff, seeing a prop airplane get escorted by two Cobra's while driving North of L.V., or walking through the woods and be totally convienced you just say Big Foot...but too hung over to believe your own eyes?

Just let me know. :lifter

I love you guys and your sense of humor.....about those "aliens"............they aren't grey. But don't tell anyone. Oh, and it gets cold as hell there at night....I wish I knew that BEFORE I left!! Froze my arse off at the ECP. And you do see some weird shit out there at night when you have nothing else to do for 15 hours on post.
I was quite fascinated by the size of the crater at the Mercury site....for anyone brave enough to get close or get the opportunity, you have to see it to believe it.
I did get to play the nickel slots.....spent 80, left with 102. Not bad for a non-gambler.
I will definitely go back!!

Seconded. The irony comes after you get out and realize you really loved (and miss) a lot of the stuff you thought you hated.

My big Vegas vacation involved several exercises in "Diversity Training" (diversity of types of women, diversity of types of booze, diversity of places to do the afformentioned diverse activities) so consequently I don't remember much. :D
