Reminded me. I was recently (about 3 weeks ago) in Panama for the first time since I left in '94. I was working with some very hard looking men and we got to talking. Seems that all of them were former members of the PDF during the late unpleasantness. And not empty uniforms, but True Believers in positions of responsibility. After two days of hard work, we came to a consensus - we all agreed that we were glad that I was meeting them for the first time in 2005 - as it would have been a shame for me to have had to bust a cap in their asses in '89. LOL
Panama seems to be doing quite well. What I saw was clean and the young men were working rather than loitering. Some new construction, roads in good shape. Still looks like a primo vacation spot.
