That pic should be on the front page of every newspaper in the world for a week and on the cover of Life.

Excellent choice.

It certainly beats the shit out of one of "the Best" pictures of Vietnam - a little girl running, crying and burning up from napalm!

I agree, that picture captures much more then just what you see.

The unfortunate part is that Yon is selling prints of that picture for a lot of money. Its sad to see him selling out a picture that is extremely important and captures a lot of meaning. Hopefully the integrity of the photo will not be lost.

I'd be careful on this point. Yon is over there on his dime. He doesn't have an plush expense account and he is probably the only "journalist" over there that ventures outside the green zone and reflects the good work being done. You certianly won't find that level of work from any of the MSM. If he has to sell the rights to that picture to continue telling the truth about what is really going on over their while the 5th estate is working overtime to cut the legs out from under our servicemen and women who am I to gripe about it? Besides if Yon can't afford to be overthere pictures like this never would have happened in the first place.

Could not agree more. In one of Michael Yon's early reports he went into great detail about the expense to ply his trade!

Yon's income on selling the photo...........Thousands!
Benefit to the American sailor soldier marine and airman........priceless!!

So does the Pieta. Michelangelo got paid for it and its message hasn't been lost in the "commercialism". Peregrino
