Rest In Peace, SSGT Layton.

Gypsy:

Send my your #'s again, and I will try to contact you.

Terry

Sir, per your explicit instructions I offer the following for your enjoyment...

Terry called me and left a message when they were in town the other day. Instead of hitting the "voicemail" button to listen to the message I hit the talk button.

Person answering phone: "Hello"

Me: (thinking: crap I pushed the wrong button!) "Uhh hello, someone just called me from this number but I don't know who it was, who is this please?"

Person on the other end of the line: "This is Nancy Andreasen."

Me: ~thinking to myself...OH S***. "Hello Ma'am, my name is Lorene and I believe Terry just left me a message." ~praying for a black hole to swallow me now~

Terry had a good laugh at my expense once I explained... :o

LOL, Gypsy.

(It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has problems with their phone...)

Missed opportunity. Should have gone all sexy and asked to speak to your little "Rotor-head". LOL

LOL while that might be my normal type of recovery response had I spoken to either of them before...I was frankly too intimidated!

Edit: 'sides...I actually do have one of 'those' voices....she might have even believed me. :lifter

Had a boss of mine answer his phone, while I was in his office, on the "Speaker" and it was his wife. The conversation headed downhill and he picked up the handset. After a somewhat heated discussion, he hung up and muttered that F*ing B*ch !! The phone answered back "WHAT THE F* DID YOU SAY !!!" It was one of those priceless moments !! Our phones, when placed in "Speaker Mode" will revert back to it after you hang up if it was initiated before you picked up the handset.

When stationed at Flint Kaserne in Tolz, we (of course) had the NCO club, also the Rod and Gun Club. Myself and another six or seven of the Team had the day off. We started in the NCO Club. After several hours, we decided the Rod and Gun Club required our presence. After a 20 second drive and some awesome precision parking. We were socializing, minding our own business, the usual, when the barkeep brought the phone over. Our senior medic's wife was trying to track him down. Well! I was handed the phone. I don't know what came over me.

She asked if I knew George (knowing it was his wife) I said yes ma'am. She wanted to know if he was there. (he was, right next to me). However, he was kinda wasted. Could always tell with him, because he'd rest his chin in his hand and insert his little finger between his teeth between the first and second joint. that way if he nodded off, the PAIN would keep him going.

Anyway, I told her I'd had seen him, but his wife came by an hour ago to pick him up to go to shopping. :D

Now you guys heading into the pipeline. DON"T try this at home!

I did buy him a beer after the call and got a bandage for his little finger from the bartender. Hell, he'd patch me up if I was hurtin'.

The next morning after formation and we were in the Team room, he seemed somewhat confused. He was asking us if we had run into any women that day. In particular if HE had. We led him on for a bit, hinting, denying. He just couldn't figure out what the hell his wife was grilling him about when he got home.
(BY the way. Seeing as I don't have a mean bone in my body  I made sure he got home safe and called his wife after about 15, 20, 30 minutes or so and told her what "some guy" at the Rod and Gun club had done.) She was a sport, gave him crap `til he passed out. I never did get around to explaining that one to him. Damn he had scalpels, anatomical knowledge and stuff.

Anybody that sees this. A word of advice. Don't be frickin' around with your medics. Unless you know what your'e doing. CYA ;)

Our junior medic was something else. A CA boy and member of the Hell's Angels. Went to VN three times, never completed a tour. Reason being, he was shipped back to the States all three times due to wounds. He was also put in for the CMOH. Lots of stories about him, but this isn't the thread for that.

We have done that before when wives would call the Team Room looking for their husbands during duty hours.

Standard response was, "He took his wife shopping at the Commissary."
